Karel Moijson has been active in Business Intelligence since 2002.

He graduated in Information Technology at Hogeschool Gent and in Banking & Insurance at Mercator Hogeschool (now known as Hogeschool Gent). In 2002, he started working as an ERP consultant at Edan Business Solutions, a Microsoft focused ERP & CRM Value Added Reseller, now a part of Cegeka. Soon, Karel took notice of the considerable gap between process-oriented ERP/CRM implementations and achieving actionable Business Insights. As a result, he decided to pioneer as BI consultant in the company.

In the following years, Karel enjoyed delivering consultancy in numerous companies in the Benelux, mainly within the food & process, distribution or trade industry. He performed assignments in domains including product & customer contribution, cost control, vendor performance, stock optimization, OEE, financial consolidation, etc. From a technological & product perspective, this was realized with (all versions of) Microsoft SQL Server – ETL design in Integration Services, analytical layer design in Analysis Services, front-end design in Excel, Sharepoint & Targit (all versions). Karel is also a seasoned Targit consultant for more than 10 years.

In 2010, Karel graduated with an MBA at Vlerick Business School. He gained a profound understanding of the fabric of success in bridging the gap between ERP and BI, by enriching his experience with competences in BI product management, project methodologies and management and team leadership. These skills, practices and experiences were formed over an interesting period; the early Damgaard Axapta & Navision, evolved from a basic yet solid ERP solution running on SQL 2000, to the rich Microsoft Dynamics AX/NAV products of today, hosted in the cloud.

Today, Karel’s assignments consist of Business Intelligence solution analysis & architecture, project management, datawarehouse design and coaching & co-development to guide companies becoming self-sufficient in the broad domain of data analytics, or in the realization of an own commercial BI product. Within a Microsoft context, this includes a well-balanced consideration and implementation of interplaying components from Azure (IAAS, PAAS, SAAS), SQL Server and Power BI. Since this triple layer of market leading products is quickly evolving, Karel keeps his knowledge sharp on this stack. Karel also co-manages the element61 Microsoft Competence Center.

In his free time, Karel enjoys playing tennis, mountain biking, but above all, spending time with family and friends.
