Principal Analytics Architect

Pierre has been working in Performance Management and Analytics ever since the year 2000.

Pierre obtained his Bachelor degree in Accounting & Finance in 1997. After an early career in General Accounting, he quickly specialized in Financial Consolidation. At Bank Degroof and bpost, he contributed to the preparation of the group's consolidated statements.

As part of this assignment, he discovered Financial Consolidation software (Safran/Carat), for which he developed a certain curiosity. This started a new career as a Performance Management consultant, for the next 6 years.

Pierre first worked at Cartesis (acquired by SAP) and later at Cognos (acquired by IBM) as a consultant implementing Financial Consolidation solutions from an end-to-end perspective for various customers. His tasks included business requirements analysis, technical design, setup and configuration of the system and training and support of end users.

At the end of 2008, Pierre joined Vesuvius Group where he was in charge of the administration of IBM Cognos Controller. He successfully contributed, among others, to the improvement and the acceleration of the group's financial reporting process.

In 2013, he discovered his great interest in Microsoft Business Intelligence tools, as well as the possibilities that these tools can offer in response to financial reporting challenges that large international groups encounter.

In 2015, he implemented a new financial budgeting solution based on IBM Planning Analytics at Vesuvius.

Very quickly, he subsequently gained BI experience in other areas such as Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, HSE ...

He also played a key role during the introduction of new Microsoft Analytics technologies including Power BI and tabular models at Vesuvius. Pierre’s technical competences in the Microsoft BI stack also include Analysis Services (SSAS), Integration Services (SSIS) and Reporting Services (SSRS). Next to his solid on-prem knowledge, Pierre also started getting familiar with the Azure Analytics solutions.

His mix of technical Analytics skills with rich Business & Finance skills makes him an excellent consultant for being involved in Finance oriented Analytics projects.

Pierre joined element61 in February 2022.  During his first week's Personal Development Pierre certified for Azure Data Fundamentals, MS Power BI and got more acquainted with Microsoft Azure based stack, including TimeXtender ETL automation.  Since his start at element61 Pierre was mainly involved in Microsoft BI, both supporting and migrating legacy/on-prem based data warehouse and reporting solutions to MS Azure based Modern Cloud data platform, building ETL pipelines with TimeXtender, creating MS Power BI reports in various domains and industries.
