Migration of current on-premise data sources/data warehouse layer to Azure Cloud.  In preparation of Qlik to MS Power Bi migration and enabling platform for IOT and AI use-cases.

Smart and IoT-enabled products like the Healthbox 3.0 generate a lot of (real-time) data. To turn this data into smart services for end-users, Renson needs a capable, scalable and flexible platform. To enable these capabilities Renson has been focusing on building a data platform that is equipped to handle the incoming data flow efficiently while exploiting the incoming data to generate additional value for the customers. This platform has been designed using a cloud-first approach on Azure.

The project consisted of the development of an end-to-end set-up for IoT and sensor data to allow reporting and predictive maintenance. Technology consisted of a full Microsoft Azure stack incl. Azure IoT hub, Databricks, Azure Data Explorer & Grafana.

A Modern Azure based data platform was created to allow Finance, Sales & Marketing to analyse gaming data and behaviour by blending transactions data (online & landbased) with Google Analytics. This enabled revenue reporting for Finance and Controlling and customer churn analysis to allow Marketing to act and react. Both online gaming as gaming hall transactions were sourced to the datalake from Postgress and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) by using Databricks, APIs, Google Analytics, GCP and MS Power BI.

De Watergroep wanted to have a report on the water coming in versus the water going out in their water production facilities. This would help them both in their day to day operations and in their annual reporting.

The Electro Optics & Materials (EOM) department of Umicore had a need to get reliable insights & metrics from their operational processes so they can monitor the materials from the first batch all the way to a finished wafer. Data was extracted from their SAP BW4HANA system and enriched with data coming from sharepoint, excels,... element61 proposed the data architecture and tooling, being Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL data warehouse, TimeXtender, API’s and front-end reporting in MS Power BI

The HR department of Umicore wanted a story-approached dashboard which shows various benchmarks against strategic goals (e.g. diversity within the manager pool) and also contains historical progress and with a deep-dive into regional benchmarks. The dashboard is accessible to a wide-range of internal employees which can only see relevant data based on their role/region/... The dashboard needed to be highly secured using Row-level-security, seen the confidentiality of the data. Data was extracted from SAP BW4HANA & other internal sources. element61 proposed the data architecture and tooling, being Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL data warehouse, TimeXtender, API’s and front-end reporting in MS Power BI.

The Procurement and Trade department (P&T) of Umicore was going to change their operational systems from SAP SRM towards SAP Ariba to smoothen their processes in Strategic Sourcing, Contract Management, Buying and Supplier Management.  This resulted in the need for a new/modern data platform and related reporting requirements.  element61 proposed the data architecture and tooling, being Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL data warehouse, TimeXtender, API’s and front-end reporting in MS Power BI.  Data Quality, user experience and ability for self-service reporting were key requirements.  The project consisted of two streams, Upstream to facilitate the Strategic Source-to-Contract (S2C) process and Downstream to allow Operational Purchase-to-Receipt (P2R).
