The Belgian Public Prosecution Service is responsible for the maintenance of the democratic rule of law and the defence of the public interest. To this end, the Public Prosecution Service shall provide a proportionate and socially relevant response to each identified crime within a socially acceptable time frame, taking into account the interests of the victims.
