SAP Analytics Cloud Tips - Master data alignment between planned and actual data

Challenge

When performing planning activities in SAC, a user might create new master data for planning purposes (e.g. projects). When at a later point of time, that same product is created in SAP ECC, the same product will exist twice in SAC. One created for planning in SAC and one created in SAP ECC.

For reporting purposes, it is recommended that all data is aligned into one single project, preferrable the one created in SAP ECC. This can be done with a data action in SAC.

Solution

To facilitate the process, one attribute was created on the project dimension called “SAPID”. This ID should serve as the link between the planning project PROJ2

A simple data action is created to copy data from the planning project PROJ2 to the real project stored in its attribute SAPID -> PROJ1
The code of the data action can be found below

After running the data action all data is now copied to the project created in ECC
