SAP Analytics Cloud Tips - Prevent data entry in a table or grid

Challenge

In some cases, you want to prevent the user from inputting data in a table on a specific combination. For example, inputting on nodes or inputting the actual months should not be allowed. In some cases, these combinations can be blocked in the model itself, but this is not always possible.

In the example below you can see that the actual months and total lines should not be open for input. This can be done with the styling rules.

Solution

For the total lines (KPI’s) a styling rules is created called Total_KPI. Inside the styling rule we set the “READ ONLY” for the cell properties as well as some other formatting options. As shown this rule will only apply to the 5 total rows from the input table.
