ZAS is the largest healthcare organisation in Belgium. The 10,000 employees and 1,000 doctors provide 1,400,000 consultations, 140,000 day admissions and 8,500 deliveries annually. They do this on 13 campuses, spread across Antwerp from north to south. Created from a merger The Hospital on the River (ZAS) was created from the merger between ZNA (ZiekenhuisNetwerk Antwerpen) and GZA Ziekenhuizen. This merger took place on 1 July 2024.
