We are looking for a Data Governance Engineer to help us tackle complex data quality and data governance projects end to end. You’ll be responsible for setting up, designing and developing data governance solutions that fit our client’s data governance framework. Working at element61 will allow you to develop and extend your knowledge and network in Business Analytics with a focus on data governance. In today's data-driven world, maintaining Data Quality and Data Governance is paramount. To support this, we are looking for additional team members to join our ranks.
Data governance, data quality, and master data management go hand-in-hand. The Data Governance team at element61 works with clients to help them understand the impact of data governance on their business models, define compelling strategies, and execute them effectively. You’ll be part of a mixed team of Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and Data Strategists, and you’ll help our clients from the strategy and proof-of-concept stages to full-blown implementation.
Key responsibilities
As a Data Governance Engineer, you will work hands-on in designing & building data governance solutions.
Each project will have concrete deliverables and a deadline, ensuring a variety of engagements across clients & industries.
Your activities will consist of:
- Designing & building data governance solutions including data quality controls, data cataloging, and master data management (MDM) solutions
- Implementing scalable data governance platforms using best-fit technologies and tools (e.g., Azure, Soda, Profisee, Purview, OvalEdge)
- Working hand-in-hand with the BI & data analytics developers who are deploying data pipelines & data transformations to ensure data quality and consistency (using Soda, SQL, Python,..)
- Collaborating with Data Scientists to deploy machine learning models into scalable services, ensuring data integrity and governance throughout the process
- Assisting the project team in deploying data applications, including, if needed, close-to real-time architectures and API integrations (e.g., REST, GraphQL, Atlas)
You will work (standalone or in a team) with clients and have a responsibility for managing project timelines, conducting status meetings, and coaching & training colleagues and customers.
You’ll be responsible to:
- Architect, develop and deploy data governance solutions in Microsoft Azure
- Act as a Data Governance Expert on the latest trends and share best practices with the internal team
- Leverage licensed or open-source technology in building scalable and best-practice set-ups (incl. Soda, SQL, Python)
- Inspire customers with insights & opportunities on new data governance use cases
- Work with external vendors and partner technologies, including (but not limited to) Microsoft, Soda, Profisee, OvalEdge, Informatica,...
- Embrace project management aimed towards achieving project goals. This will include working closely with client data governance teams, data engineers, and business stakeholders
- Be an on- and offline ambassador for the element61 innovation team
Being a Data Governance Engineer at element61 means you will work with businesses and executives in Belgium, helping them to understand the impact of data quality, data cataloging, master data management, and governance. Over time, we’ll encourage you to build functional expertise within a business or technical domain of your interest.
Your skills
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Engineer, or a related technical field
- About 2 years of experience with SQL, Python and Azure (Azure Data Engineer certification is a plus)
- Solid knowledge of APIs (REST, GraphQL, ATLAS) and coding skills in general
- Passionate about data governance technology applications (Data Catalogs, Data Quality, MDM) and eager to learn
- Enthusiastic about being part of a growing team & industry
- Fluent in English. Dutch or French can count as a strength
