Because of a lack of classroom training in the Belgian market, element61 has developed a training session on Data Governance. Details on the training objectives and target audience can be found below. The training is an ideal start for people looking to improve data management in their environment.

Course objective

In today's data-driven world, effective management of data is a cornerstone of success for any organization. To thrive in a constantly evolving landscape, businesses must not only collect and store data but also manage it efficiently, ensuring it is accurate, reliable, and used strategically to drive decision-making.

Welcome to our comprehensive training program, where we will delve deep into the critical pillars of data management: Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Metadata Management. This program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and concepts necessary to embark on a data governance journey.

Data Governance sets the rules and processes for data management within an organization, ensuring that data is used responsibly and in compliance with regulatory requirements. We will explore how to establish data policies, assign ownership, and create a framework for data-related decision-making that aligns with your organizational goals.

Data Quality is essential for making informed, accurate decisions. We will uncover strategies to assess, improve, and maintain data quality, helping you avoid costly errors and inefficiencies resulting from poor data.

Master Data Management is the practice of maintaining a single, consistent version of core business data. You will learn how to create and manage a master data repository, ensuring that your organization speaks with one voice and minimizing data silos.

Metadata Management plays a pivotal role in understanding, organizing, and retrieving data. We will explore how to capture, store, and utilize metadata to enhance data discovery and enable more efficient data utilization.

The training is based on DAMA’s Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK), complemented by the practical experience of our consultants. Throughout this training, you will gain valuable insights and practical skills to implement these concepts within your organization. Whether you are an IT professional, a data steward, a business analyst, or a manager, this program is designed to cater to a wide range of backgrounds and roles.

Duration

The training is spread over 2-days, which can be followed independently from each other, depending on your readiness and entry level. Day 1 consists of the more basic topics as an introduction to the base concepts of Data Governance. Day 2 has a more advanced scope to take your basic knowledge to the next level with also some practical exercises. We do recommend following day 1 to ensure you are across all topics discussed on day 2.
