This migration project was a strategic initiative to modernize the data and analytics platform of the public transport company in Flanders, Belgium. The project replaced the legacy IBM Netezza and Datastage technologies with a cloud-based solution using Azure and Power BI, following a data analytics roadmap done in 2022. The migration project was a big migration project covering reporting on SAP S4/HANA, various own build applications, Oracle data sources and ticket-based systems for all point of sales. It scoped >25 data sources, 3500 data pipelines, 15 data domains and >350 end-user reporting scopes. The migration was done as project incl. rebuilding the data extractions best-practice to a Lakehouse, migrating like-for-like the 3500 data jobs to Azure Synapse & running them performantly on the Modern Data Platform. In a period of 15 months, all reports in Cognos, Power BI & Tableau were converted & validated to now work like-for-like to the data models now build & available through Azure.
