Aula Magna, Louvain la Neuve

After the first successful BI-Day in 2009, BI-community is organising a second edition on 16 September 2010 at the Aula Magna in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. element61 continues to support the Belgian Business Intelligence User community both from the content perspective and financially.

element61 customer Securitas will present a case on their BI journey. Gert Achten, CFO of Securatis will talk abouit the project background and the success to date.

Securitas started in the beginning of 2010 to build out its enterprise-wide BI architecture. In view of the complexity of the (mostly custom developed) operational systems, it used to be a major challenge for Securitas to provide correct, user-friendly and performant reporting and analysis to the information workers. This new architecture is currently being built, the focus for the first domain being extensive financial reporting and analysis. It is therefore clear that the project is being run by the Finance Office, in which the BICC resides, but with a very tight collaboration with the ICT department. The result of this first increment is a stabile environment with both standard reporting and analysis that is from now on the only source for all financial KPIs. This environment will also be the foundation for building out the rest of the enterprise-wide BI architecture, in which all of the other relevant data sources will be integrated. The key to success for this first deliverable was the driving force and hands-on involvement by the Finance Office.

Also element61 customer Tecteo Group, nominated for a BI Vision Award, will present its BI Program.

Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen and element61 will also bring an update on the progress of the 'BI in the Cloud for SMEs' project. This 2-years project started earlier this year and is financed by the European Community and Agentschap Ondernemen Vlaanderen. The speakers will explain project objectives, project plan, the profile of the SMEs that have been selected for the 2010 pilot project and detailed activities to date. The session will in particular outline challenges and opportunities associated with bringing BI in a Saas/Hosting-model and the current "state-of-the-art”.

The keynote speaker of the BI-day this year is nobody less then Bill Inmon, best known as "The Father of Data Warehousing”. His keynote will address the concept "Data Warehouse 2.0". This event is an opportunity for all industry experts, participants and vendors to share information on best-of-breed solutions, trends and case studies. And above all vendors can present their products and services to an audience of more than 300 business professionals in the area of Corporate Performance Management, Business Intelligence, Predictive Analytics and data quality.

There will be four tracks for knowledge sharing :

• Performance management
• Data governance/data quality
• Predictive Analytics
• Trends in business intelligence
