Over 1, 2, or 3 days, you’ll explore data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques within Qlik Cloud, empowering you to build efficient, high-performance data models in a scalable, governed environment. Choose the full course or select specific days based on your needs—each day builds progressively on the previous one, allowing you to tailor your learning experience.

Training Overview

This hands-on, instructor-led training guides you through the essentials and advanced aspects of working with data in Qlik Cloud. Using real-world scenarios, you’ll gain practical experience with Qlik Cloud’s Data Load Editor, Data Gateway for hybrid connectivity, and Qlik Cloud governance features, applying best practices to ensure scalable performance, data quality, and security in a SaaS environment.

Day 1: Fundamentals of Data in Qlik Cloud

  • Getting Started in Qlik Cloud: Introduction to the Qlik Cloud platform, the Hub, and its data-handling architecture.
  • Data Load Editor: Navigating Qlik Cloud’s web-based scripting environment.
  • Creating Data Connections:
    • Native cloud connectors (e.g., Google Drive, OneDrive, Snowflake, S3)
    • On-premises connections via Qlik Data Gateway – Direct Access
  • Loading & Concatenating Data: Efficiently ingest and structure data from multiple sources.
  • Basic Transformations: Renaming fields, filtering, applying basic calculations.
  • Data Modeling Fundamentals:
    • Circular references & synthetic keys in Qlik Cloud
    • Exploring and validating your data model
  • Deploying in Managed Spaces: Introduction to space types (Personal, Shared, Managed) for organizing and promoting apps.

Day 2: Advanced Data Transformation Techniques

  • Inline Load: Use inline tables to mock or enrich datasets.
  • Joins & Mappings: Combine and translate data across multiple tables.
  • CrossTable Transformation: Handle pivoted/unpivoted datasets for analysis.
  • Aggregation with GROUP BY: Perform calculated summaries in the script.
  • Qualify/Unqualify: Managing field naming conflicts across complex data sets.
  • Master Calendar Design: Build dynamic, reusable date frameworks for consistent time-based analysis.

Day 3: Mastering Data Modelling, Automation & Optimization

  • Row-Level Security & Section Access: Secure your applications using Qlik Cloud's security rules and embedded section access.
  • Link Tables & Composite Keys: Best practices for handling many-to-many relationships.
  • Optimizing the Data Model:
    • Efficient key structures and autonumber() usage
    • Minimizing memory footprint in the cloud
  • Qlik Catalog and Data Lineage: Discover how Qlik Cloud provides automated data lineage, classification, and tagging for governance.
  • Intro to Qlik Cloud Automations:
    • Set up scheduled and event-driven workflows
    • Use Automations to trigger reloads, send alerts, or move apps across spaces
  • Set Analysis Deep Dive: Construct dynamic expressions using advanced set analysis.
  • AGGR() Function Use Cases: Explore this powerful function for layered aggregation logic.
