Building Real-Time Analytics with Azure

More and more organizations are seeing the value of real-time data: responding to events as they happen, gaining instant operational insights, and enabling predictive actions based on live telemetry. This 1-day hands-on training introduces you to the tools and architectures available in Microsoft Azure (and Microsoft Fabric) to build real-time data platforms

Training description

You’ll explore how traditional batch-based data systems can be extended to support real-time scenarios, leveraging components like Azure Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Databricks Structured Streaming, and Azure Data Explorer. You’ll also theoretically tackle Microsoft Fabric’s Real-Time Intelligence features and how they compare with existing Azure services.

Through practical exercises based on a realistic IoT scenario (e.g. a windmill streaming telemetry), you’ll learn how to ingest, process, store, and visualize real-time data using modern tools in Azure

By the end of the training, you'll understand what real-time data means in practice, how it can deliver business value, and how to implement it in your own projects.

Real-Time Analytics

Duration & Agenda

During this 1-day training we'll cover the fundamentals of building real-time data platforms in Azure and Microsoft Fabric.

Topics include:

  • The value of real-time insights: business drivers and real-world examples
  • Architecture patterns: hot vs cold path, batch vs streaming
  • Key Azure components: Event Hub, IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Databricks, ADX
  • Visualization options: Azure Managed Grafana
  • Microsoft Fabric Real-Time Intelligence: how it compares to Azure tools
  • Cost, performance, and design considerations for real-time architectures

Throughout the training, we’ll apply these concepts in hands-on labs using a simulated industrial IoT scenario. Each participant will work with a live data stream from a virtual windmill and build their own real-time pipeline from ingestion and processing to visualization

Target audience

This training is intended for:

  • Data engineers, developers, and architects working in Azure
  • BI professionals or technical leads interested in real-time analytics
  • IT or OT professionals who want to bridge operational systems and cloud platforms
  • Anyone looking for a practical introduction to real-time data architecture and tools in Azure

Familiarity with concepts such as ETL, event-driven architecture, and Azure basics (resource groups, services) is recommended.

Format

The training consists of plenary lecturing with a hands-on lab environment. It can be taught in both English and Dutch, also on-site at the customers' premises.

Cost

675 € per participant per day
