ALD Automotive had made a significant investment in a new BI architecture in order to provide a customer extranet for fleet reporting and analysis to over 2.000 customers. Technologies involved were IBM Cognos as BI layer and Microsoft SQL Server as backend data warehouse. However, the BI solution did not meet the business requirements and was unable to deliver satisfactory reporting performance to the customers and the internal management team. Hence ALD Automotive tasked element61 to perform a thorough audit of the BI environment and suggest improvements in order to saveguard as much as possible the initial BI investment. element61 performed a 20-day audit that resulted in a long list of prioritized and well-defined recommendations. Since then ALD Automotive has implemented these recommendations, resulting in a successful deployment of their extranet environment.
